Stop spitting

Playing with a partner who spits is disgusting, unhygienic and upsetting. It should be prohibited.

Sound effects not appreciated

A member of my regular foursome has an annoying habit of offering sound effects on errant shots. A hooked tee-shot is frequently met with a high-pitched "oooh no-no-no-no" or a missed putt met with an equally annoying "oh, Glen" offered in a tone of disapproval appropriate for a misbehaving child. Seems to me appropriate etiquette is to offer compliments on well executed shots (e.g. nice ball, nice putt, etc) and to keep your mouth shut with a fellow golfer inevitibly misfires. This guy also rattles the change in his pocket as you stand over your tee shots. If I didn't like the other members of my group I wouldn't play with him at all.

shut up and hit

I play with a good friend that talks the whole time he is playing. He informs you of every little action he is going to take like drawing (actually he is hooking it) the ball, stance problems, distance he wants to leave the ball from the green for his approach shot. He does the same thing for all of his other shots too especially putting. He does this with you teeing up, or putting also. It is extremely aggravating.

Get a room!

Played behind a couple that was going slow due to them continually making out. They were grabbing each others butts on the tee, stopping their cart to kiss, etc. on a couple of greens the guy would be lining up his putt and the woman would sit down spread eagled in front of the cup. They showed no signs of letting us play through, even when our cart was by the tee box while they were teeing off (or groping each other). To be honest we enjoyed the show for a few holes, but over an hour to play 3 holes was just too long. We notified a marshall, who spoke to them and let me move up pass them. I can't help but wonder if at some point they tried to sneak into the woods instead of getting a hotel room! When we finished my round the course folks were nice enough to offer us a free round for the next time we played.

over and over again!

I used to play with a guy who took a re-do shot every time he didn't like his shot. It took up so much of our time just waiting for him to shoot "the perfect shot." He behaved as though he was the only one on the golf course!

Where to stand

Never stand directly in front of nor behind a putting player.

Bad practice green etiquette

You see bad etiquette on display on the practice green not just the course. Guys stand directly next to one hole and putt to another hole. This selfishness effectively uses up 2 holes at the same time.

Dealing with Ed and his story telling

We refer to him as Ed. His bad habit that drives me nuts is that he wants to tell you his "story". He deliberately tees of last, and before teeing off, he holds up play to tell you his personal "story" from years ago from a previous job he was employed at. By teeing off last he has you as a captive audience. He basically comes to the golf course to "socialize" and is not really a serious golfer. When this socializing holds up play I have a problem with that! We have dropped verbal hints to him and they seem to BOUNCE OFF of him. He either is ignoring us or he just doesn't get it. Play slows down and we start hearing about it from groups backing up behind us. Eventually we just started teeing off earlier to avoid him. Now he has caught on to this. I have now quit the foursome. The other guys are discussing going to another course to play.

For fir sake

As a young junior my playing partner hit a rather awful shot into the 12th green. In a moment of adolescent rage he threw his club into the sky where it managed to rest see-saw like on one of the top branches!! To this day I don't think I have laughed so much. Took us 10 minutes and every club in the bag to get it back!!

Slow bad stupid golfers

Me and a friend were walking 9 holes and we see people in front of us these guys took forever. I understood that they had their sons with them but it took them 15 minutes to chip it on the green and make it. One of the sons took 7 shots to get it in the hole. So these idiots sit here and watch us do the whole hole. When we got in the hole these idiots started to play again. On the par 3 hole number 13 the two adults hit. They hit it in the bunker. Their sons step up to hit. We watched the sons hit litterally 15 shots (trust me I counted) so it took them 35 minutes to finish a par 3. This made me mad. So I called the marshal. The marshal comes right when the sons are putting their shots. The marshal told them to hurry up and drove them up 3 holes. Believe it or not we ran into them again on the hole that the marshal took them to. I was hoping for an offer to go ahead of them. So I asked them if I could go ahead. The fathers told me be quiet and the son looked at me and said shut up jerk.

My worst golf experience

This experience was so bad. I registered on this website just to post this. Imagine the course. A cheap 9 hole public course that has open fairways that run parallel in a zig-zag. Not much between fairways, maybe a thin strip of rough grass. I was already annoyed for suspecting that the group I let play through had then stolen 2 of my golf balls as they walked past on the next fairway to my right. Then, just as I was about to swing, the couple playing behind me on the hole to my left. Threw a squeaky toy sideways onto the the middle of MY fairway and their dog ran onto the middle of MY fairway! The worse thing was, as I walked past them, she threw the squeaky toy sideways onto MY fairway again, 10 yds from my feet. The clubhouse has a sign saying “No dogs”, yet the couple still played the last hole by the clubhouse with the unleashed dog running around and the woman sat down in the middle of the green. Talking about dress codes I've even seen guys play this course half naked.

Pure Ignorance!

Today, at Hawkridge, Orillia Par 3 (9 Hole) Course, I noticed a group of 3 guys finishing off on Hole #9, as I teed off at Hole #1. My tee shot landed on the green and I started to make my way (walking) to the green. As I picked up my bag I noticed the 3 guys from Hole #9 walking towards the back of the green of my hole (#1). They were talking loud and then promptly placed their bags & trollys at the back of the green, select a club and then started to walk over green #1 towards the tee box! By this time I'm on the green preparing to mark my ball. I just stood 'gob smacked!' as the first two guys just walked right passed me on the green. The third one muttered "Uh, you're on for a birdie" I honestly could not believe what I was witnessing. There is a paved path between the 9th green and the 1st tee. Yet, these meatheads, whom obviously thought they owned the place, decided that that walk was too far for them. "Let's leave our bags here and walk in front of this guy instead"

Fishing the Pond?

I was walking 18 holes with a buddy, when we suddenly a ball got hit into us. Not entirely pleased, we did notice 2 guys in a cart behind us. Okay, we'll let them play through. They say thanks and act friendly. Both then proceed to hit 2 tee shots each. Annoying. The worst was that the get in their carts and make a pit stop to fish the pond with their ball finder!!! Unbelievable

Cussing

My golf patner is a good golfer, but everytime she hits a bad shot or blames the golf course she says that bad word aloud.
