"The Slot Swing" focuses on the downswing path. Jim McLean, in his golf swing studies, discovered that almost every professional golfer's downswing path is flatter than their backswing path and shows the average golfer how to achieve this downswing path.
My Review
Acclaimed golf instructor Jim McLean, owner of the Jim McLean Golf Schools which include: Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Miami, PGA West in La Quinta, California, La Quinta Resort in La Quinta, California, and Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City, Michigan and Weston Hills in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida released his 10th book this year entitled "The Slot Swing."
McLean, an award winning instructor, is probably best known for his research on the golf swing and his work on "The X Factor," where he discovered how most professional golfers turn their upper bodies twice as far as their hips. He is also the founder of the 8-Step Swing teaching system, which describes in detail body motions, body angles and body positions of the golf swing. In his new book, "The Slot Swing," McLean wanted to simplify his instruction to make it more understandable for golfers of all levels.
"The Slot Swing" focuses on the downswing path. McLean, in his golf swing studies, discovered that almost every professional golfer’s downswing path is flatter than their backswing path. The flatter downswing path is what McLean calls the "slot." As McLean writes, "The Slot is a moment in time - a link between the plane your shaft travels on during your backswing to the one it assumes as you deliver the clubhead into the back of the ball."
If you have read and studied Jim McLean books in past, you may find some repetition, but if you are new to Jim Mclean instruction, then you will find that this book is easy to read and understand. I especially enjoyed the detailed illustrations by Phil Franke. If you are looking for a comprehensive golf instruction book, then you will want to add this book to your collection.
