My Review
"Caddie Confidential" promises a behind-the-scenes look at the life of caddies on the pro tours. And if this book accurately reflects those caddies, then they are mostly a bunch of whiners.
Which is not to say there aren't some interesting stories - there are. Quite a few actually. The book's format is not a narrative, it's more a Q&A. Each chapter poses a question or topic, then various and sundry tour caddies (many of whom you've heard of) are quoted answering the question or addressing the topic.
And some of the responses are very interesting indeed, and some are quite funny.
But too many of them are simply whining, bitching and moaning about how easy young caddies today have it, how much harder it was back in the day, how tour officials don't treat the caddies well, and so on. There are also several places in the book where LPGA Tour golfers are treated dismissively or condescendingly, and a couple of those places are downright ugly.
There are some things to like about this book, but too many negatives along the way.
