Here are some of the best free online golf games you'll find on the Web. Some require Shockwave, others are Java applets. These online golf games range from sophisticated to basic, but they all have two things in common: They're fun, and they are great ways to waste time. Make that three things: They are all free. Be sure to check the links under the last selection to find more comprehensive lists of free online golf games and free online mini golf games.

1. NabiscoWorld / Candystand "Golf Course"

"Golf Course" appears on NabiscoWorld and Candystand; the link in our review goes to the NabiscoWorld site. Shockwave is required. Amateur and professional levels are offered. Play 18 holes on a "real" golf course. Lots of fun and the pro level can be challenging.

2. NabiscoWorld / Candystand "Driving Range"

"Driving Range" appears on NabiscoWorld and Candystand; the link in our review goes to the NabiscoWorld site. Shockwave is required. Amateur and professional levels are offered. Get a buck of 25 balls and fire at the targets.

3. NabiscoWorld Mini-Golf

Play 18 holes of mini golf in this Shockwave game, or practice any individual hole. Can be very challening to newcomers. This link goes to our review, where you can learn more about the game and click over to play it.

4. Candystand Mini Golf

Play 18 holes of mini golf in this Shockwave game, or practice any individual hole. Can be very challening to newcomers. This link goes to our review, where you can learn more about the game and click over to play it.

5. Skyworks 3D-Golf Desert

A very cool looking desert course serves as the site for this Skyworks effort. Only problem: Because this game serves as an example on the Skyworks licensing page, you only get to play three holes. But you can play those three holes as often as you like.

6. Mini Golf Open on Candystand

Another Shockwave mini golf game from Candystand. This appears to be another older game - the degree of difficulty isn't any less than Candystand's newer mini golf games, but the graphics appear a little less clean.

7. NabiscoWorld Mini Mini-Golf

We find this to be more challening that NabiscoWorld Mini Golf (mentioned above) - there are more obstacles and there are no borders around the hole (the ball can easily roll off the hole, requiring you to start over).
