Tiger Woods started the final round tied with Retief Goosen at 205. But the Goose shot 74 in the final round to Woods' 71, and that three-stroke cushion was Woods' final margin of victory. On a tough scoring day, none of the other top competitors could mount a charge in the final round.

Woods' third Masters championship followed one year after his second, making Woods just the third back-to-back winner in Masters history, after Jack Nicklaus and Nick Faldo.

This was the seventh career major for Woods, which tied him, in his mid-20s, with legends Bobby Jones, Arnold Palmer, Gene Sarazen, Sam Snead and Harry Vardon.
