The Grimace

Woods was in pain during much of the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines, as he is on this drive. That grimace was a common sight during the week. Woods underwent knee surgery just eight weeks prior to the championship, and the first round of the Open was the first time since the surgery that he walked 18 holes.

The knee bothered Woods mostly on drives, such as this one, and on drives when he really went after it the pain would cause him to kneel over a few times during the week. But in this fourth round, Woods took some over-the-counter pain relievers about halfway through and felt better over the final nine holes.
