When and where is Tiger Woods' next tournament? The superstar golfer, whose comeback 2019 year included a win in The Masters Tournament, opened his 2020 campaign at the Farmers Insurance Open. That's the PGA Tour event at Torrey Pines in California, a golf course on which Woods has won eight times.

But what's next for Woods in 2020? Let's take a look.

Tiger Woods' Confirmed Next Tournaments

Woods is famous for hating to confirm his appearance in a tournament far in advance. He often doesn't make announcements of where he is playing until close to the deadline for doing so (which is the Friday of the preceding week).

Woods' confirmed upcoming tournaments in 2020 so far include only one regular PGA Tour stop. But we also know he'll definitely be playing in all four of the majors, so long as he is healthy.

So Woods' confirmed 2020 schedule, beyond his opener at Torrey Pines, so far includes these six tournaments:

  • Feb. 13-16: The Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California
  • April 9-12: The Masters, Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.
  • May 14-17: PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, Calif.
  • June 18-21: U.S. Open at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
  • July 16-19: British Open at Royal St. George's Golf Club in Sandwich, Kent, England

The sixth tournament? That would the unofficial-money tournament that Woods hosts at the end of the year:

Woods has never won the Genesis Invitational. He has five wins in The Masters, four in the PGA Championship, and three each in the U.S. Open and British Open.

Likely Tournaments on Woods' Schedule

While Woods has only confirmed the tournaments above, we can make educated guesses about other tournaments he is likely to play because Woods tends to play most of the same events each year.

Into his 40s, with physical problems that could crop up again at any time, and with two children, Woods played fewer tournaments in 2019 than he did in 2018 and than he traditionally did during his peak years. We should expect Woods, health permitting, to play roughly the same number of tournaments in 2020 as he did in the previous year.

Given that, these are the additional tournaments we expect Woods to play in 2020:

  • March 12-15: The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
  • June 4-7: The Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio
  • October: Zozo Championship in Japan (Woods is the defending champion)

There are several other possibilities. These are all tournaments that Woods has traditionally played throughout his career, but he skipped them all in 2019: the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March; the Wells Fargo Championship in early May; and the WGC FedEx St. Jude Classic in early July.

The Playoff Tournaments

The season-ending FedEx Cup playoffs consist of three tournaments in 2020. Assuming Woods qualifies, he will likely play all three. However, in 2019, Woods, after playing the first two playoff events, failed to advance to the third one.
