More About Rocky Rockett:
He started playing golf when he was 5 years old on the course that his father managed. His dad ran a public golf course for 31 years before he passed away. From his dad, Rocky learned respect for the game and cultivated a talent that eventually earned him a golf scholarship to East Carolina University. He was forced to drop out and return home to run the golf course when his father became ill.
In 1979, he earned a PGA Tour card but found little success due to the combination of Monday qualifying and lack of funds. He started playing high stakes matches to earn enough money to pays his bills. His father's death was turning point in his life and necessity took him out of school and on a different path.
Rocky worked a few jobs as a golf pro, but has mostly earned his living by playing people with a wager on the line. After playing golf in a match-play format for majority of the time, playing the Sun Belt Senior Tour has provided experience in stroke-play competitions. A devoted family man, he reads the Bible with his wife every day even if he is on the road.
