More About Julie Wells:
As the daughter and sister of golf pros, Julie picked up the game of golf at an early age and started competing at the age of 6. By her freshman year in high school while competing with the boys, since there was no girls team to play for she knew she had the tools to take her game to the next level. During her high school career, Julie earned recognition as both the state's Athlete of the Year and Golfer of the Year.
After being recruited by PAC-10 schools closer to home, she decided to leave Oregon to play college golf for the University of Idaho, where during her junior season her team won the Big West Conference title and she was named Player of the Year. Julie turned pro a month before graduation to prepare for the Futures Tour and twice entered the LPGA Qualifying Tournament, without success. She practiced tirelessly for three years while she played on-and-off on the mini-tour circuit, without much success but with much personal sacrifice.
During her time away from the game, she often questioned if she had the motivation to return, but says it's not so easy to leave behind something you love so much. Julie's motivation to be on The Big Break is to create something positive for herself to keep her game sharp and her desire to play intact. Currently, she works at the Oregon Golf Club, where she continues to practice tirelessly on her game.
