About Jan Dowling:

From the golf-crazy Great White North - and the only Canadian among "The Big Break III" contestants - Jan started playing golf at age 11 and realized at 15 she had enough talent to play competitively.

From her home just north of Toronto, she made her way south in 1998 to Ohio to become a member of the first-ever Kent State Golden Flashes women's golf team. Kent State won its conference each year of her college career and Jan collected accolades along the way, including MAC Freshman of the Year (1998), MAC Conference Player of the Year (1999), Canadian Amateur Champion (2000), Score Golf Canadian Female Amateur Golfer of the Year (2000), Kent State's Janet Bachna Award for Female Senior Athlete of the Year (2002) and representing Canada at the World Amateur Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2002).

While at Kent State, Jan also became good friends with fellow Golden Flasher and 2003 British Open Champion Ben Curtis.

She has played on the Futures Golf Tour since 2003, where her best finish (T6) came in El Paso, Texas, at the IOS Futures Golf Classic.

When asked about her heroes, Jan is quick to point out the late Moe Norman, who was famous for his unorthodox style and admired for his mental toughness and confidence.
