More About Becky Lucidi:

Coming from a competitive family, Becky had three older brothers to keep pace with in all kinds of sports. After picking up a golf club for the first time at age 14, she chose to concentrate on golf as a high school junior. In her senior year, she was offered a full scholarship to the University of New Mexico, and played for the Lobos for two years before transferring to the University of Southern California.

In the summer of 2002, Becky qualified and entered the U.S. Women's Amateur as an unknown. Up to that point, the largest tournament in which she had ever played was the San Diego City Amateur. After what she calls a "truly amazing week and a surreal experience," she defeated Brandy Jackson 3&2 in the final 36-hole match to capture the title. She never trailed a single point in any of the eight matches in which she played. Five months later, she won the Mexican Women's Amateur, and in her senior year in 2003, celebrated a NCAA National Championship with her USC teammates.

Becky remained an amateur after graduation to defend her U.S. Women's Amateur title, but lost in the semifinals. Next, she tried her hand at the LPGA Tour Qualifying Tournament, but missed the cut in the final stage. Becky's first year on the Futures Tour in 2005 was a hard adjustment, she says, but a great learning experience – and she is looking forward to her next season.

Of all her accomplishments in life, she is most proud of – not being crowned U.S. Women's Amateur champion – but being voted "class clown" of her high school in 1998. "I know it sounds silly, but there were only 144 girls competing in the U.S. Amateur and, dang it, there were 4,000 people in my high school!" she said.
