More About Ashley Gomes:

Born and bred in the comforts of suburban Northern California, Ashley is a talented player who has succeeded at every level. The 24-year-old began her freshman year at San Jose State University merely a member of the golf team, but by her senior year she was the team leader and won the Western Athletic Conference championship.

During her collegiate career, she competed against fellow "Big Break VI" competitor Annie Mallory. At one point, the two of them alternated being named WAC golfer of the week for a month.

She started playing golf at age 12 and began competing at 13. In high school, she played on the boys' team even after the school formed a girls' team. Her game was honed in junior golf competing against current LPGA stars Paula Creamer and Natalie Gulbis. The last time they talked, Gulbis asked Ashley when she will join her on Tour.

Playing the Duramed Future Tour in 2006, she made 12 cuts in 16 events, with a best finish of 14th. True to form, her performance improves with time as she made only five of 13 cuts on the Futures Tour in 2005.

Ashley says that her parents have the greatest influence on her through their support. She enjoys the life of a professional golfer and looks forward to playing everyday. She once attempted to work a desk job, which lasted only a day and half. Her major in college was speech communications because she said she "never stopped talking."
