Captains: Great Britain - Dai Rees; USA - Ben Hogan
The United States side was so dominant it even managed to live up to captain Ben Hogan's introductory comment. At the team dinner, and following a long introduction of the Great Britain team by captain Dai Rees, Hogan simply gave his players' names and then stated that they were "... the finest golfers in the world."
(Captain Raymond Floyd tried the same tactic at the 1989 Ryder Cup, but it didn't work out so well for Floyd's team.)
It was Hogan's last appearance in the Ryder Cup; he had played in two of them and captained Team USA three times (one of those times as player-captain). It was also Rees' final time at the Ryder Cup. Rees appeared as a player for Team Great Britain five times, as a player-captain four times, and as the captain only here at the 1967 match.
Tony Jacklin made his debut for Great Britain in 1967. Jacklin played in a total of seven Ryder Cups, and later captained Team Europe four times.
