By , About.com Guide

The 2013 Solheim Cup will take place in mid-August in Colorado. Played in America, it will be an opportunity for Team Europe to earn its first-ever win on U.S. soil (and for Team USA to keep its home record perfect).

Dates: Aug. 16-18
Site: Colorado Golf Club, Parker, Colorado
Captains: USA - Meg Mallon; Europe - Liselotte Neumann

Tickets:

Tickets for the 2013 Solheim Cup became available for purchase as of August 2011. Tickets are available for practice days (Aug. 13-15) and tournament days (Aug. 16-18), as well as grounds passes for the entire week. See LPGA.com for more info and to make a purchase.

Format:

The 2013 Solheim Cup will take place over three days using match play formats. The competition includes:

• Day 1: Eight matches total on the first day: four foursomes matches and four four-ball matches. Those matches are played in a morning session and an afternoon session. The order - foursomes first, or four-balls first - is determined by the home-team captain.

• Day 2: Same as Day 1

• Day 3: Twelve singles matches. The order in which golfers play is determined by the opposing captains, each captain choosing her team's order without knowledge of the other side's order.

Teams:

The teams at the 2013 Solheim Cup will be comprised of 12 players per side. For Team USA, 10 of those golfers will earn automatic selection via the LPGA Tour's Solheim Cup points list. Two other golfers will be named to the team by the USA captain. For Team Europe, eight golfers will earn automatic selection, four through the Ladies European Tour's points list and four through the world rankings. Four more will be named to the team by the Europe captain.
