See More About:
The 2013 Presidents Cup will be the ninth time the Presidents Cup has been played. For results of previous matches, see our Presidents Cup Results page.

• When: Oct. 3-6, 2013
• Where: Muirfield Village, Dublin, Ohio
• Tickets: Tickets go on sale to the general public in June 2012. Check the official website for info and updates.

Muirfield Village is the golf club created by Jack Nicklaus, and the site of The Memorial tournament on the PGA Tour every year. This is the first time the Presidents Cup has been played at Muirfield Village, but the Ryder Cup was played here in 1987, and Nicklaus has served as a Presidents Cup captain four times.

2013 Presidents Cup Captains:

Fred Couples is the captain for Team USA and Nick Price for Team International. It is Price's first turn as a team captain; Couples previously captained the American side in both the 2009 and 2011 Presidents Cups.

See our Presidents Cup captains page for the list of previous captains in this competition.

Format:

The Presidents Cup uses a 4-day, 34-match format that includes sessions of foursomes, fourball and singles match play.

On Day 1, six matches of either foursomes or fourballs are played; on Day 2, six matches of the format not used on Day 1 take place. So on the first two days, all 12 members of each side have to play.

On Day 3, 10 matches total are played, five foursomes and five fourballs. (Which goes first - foursomes or fourballs - is determined by the home-team captain, as is the order on days 1 and 2.)

On Day 4, 12 singles matches wrap up the competition. If the score winds up tied at the end of play, the Presidents Cup is halved and the team are co-champions.

For more about match play formats, see our Match Play Primer.
