When Did the U.S. First Win a Ryder Cup Played in Great Britain?

By Brent Kelley, About.com

Question: When Did the U.S. First Win a Ryder Cup Played in Great Britain?
Answer: 1937.

The Americans won the Ryder Cup on U.S. soil in 1927, 1931 and 1935, and lost it on British soil in 1929 and 1933. So when Team USA won at Southport & Ainsdale Country Club in Southport, England, in 1937, it wasn't just the first time the U.S. won the Ryder Cup in Britain, but also the first time the "home team" lost.
