Down through the years a handful of famous entertainers have had their names associated with PGA Tour tournaments by serving as "hosts" of those events. The Bob Hope Classic, for example, is still played on the PGA Tour today. Below is a list of the celebrities who've had their names included in PGA Tour tournament titles.
My thanks to Laura Neal, Senior Director, Communications, for the PGA Tour, who did the research for this list.
Celebrities are listed in alphabetical order.
11. Danny Thomas
The comedian and legendary television producer was long associated with the St. Jude's Childrens Hospital. So it shouldn't be a suprise that what we now know as the St. Jude Classic used to carry Thomas' name in its title. From 1970 through 1984, it was called the Danny Thomas Memphis Classic. Thomas also hosted a PGA Tour event called the Danny Thomas Diplomat Classic in 1969, which existed for that year only.12. Justin Timberlake
Beginning in 2008, the Las Vegas tournament that was called the Frys.com Open in 2006-07 and the Las Vegas Invitational (among other names) before that was rechristened as the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
