Most Birdies in 72-Hole PGA Tour Tournament

The record for most birdies in a 72-hole tournament on the PGA Tour is 32 and it is shared by two golfers:

• Mark Calcavecchia, 2001 Phoenix Open
• Paul Gow, 2001 B.C. Open

Three other golfers have reached 31 birdies:

• John Huston, 1998 United Airlines Hawaiian Open
• Phil Mickelson, 2006 BellSouth Classic
• Steve Stricker, 2010 John Deere Classic

Note: Steve Stricker and Jhonattan Vegas both make this list - in fact, Stricker leads it - if we include the first four rounds of 90-hole tournaments. Stricker made 34 birdies in the first four rounds of the 2009 Bob Hope Classic; and Vegas made 32 birdies in the first four rounds of the 2011 Bob Hope Classic.
