About the PGA Tour Waste Management Phoenix Open:
Phil Mickelson won this tournament for the third time, matching the tournament's 18-hole (60) and 72-hole (256) scoring records. Mickelson won by four strokes over Brandt Snedeker, recording his 41st overall victory on the PGA Tour in wire-to-wire fashion. Mickelson's 256 total also matched the second-lowest in PGA Tour history for a 72-hole tournament.
2012 Waste Management Phoenix Open
Just one week after a final-hole meltdown to lose at the Farmers Insurance Open, Kyle Stanley engineered one of the biggest final-round comebacks in PGA Tour history at the Phoenix Open. Stanley began the final round eight strokes behind leader Spencer Levin, but went out and fired a 65. Levin, meanwhile, struggled to a 75. Stanley won at 15-under 269, with Ben Crane second and Levin third.

Tournament Trivia and Notes:
- Arnold Palmer is the only golfer to win this tourney three straight years (1961-63).
- Ben Hogan (1946-47), Lloyd Mangrum (1952-53) and Johnny Miller (1974-75) are the other golfers to win back-to-back titles here.
- The largest margin of victory came in 1975, when Johnny Miller (260) finished 14 shots ahead of runnerup Jerry Heard. in 1939, Byron Nelson beat runner-up Ben Hogan by 12 shots in a 54-hole format.
- Mark Calcavecchia's 254 total in 2001 set a new scoring record for 72 holes, breaking the previous PGA Tour record that had stood since 1955. (Calcavecchia's record has since been broken.)
- Calcavecchia still holds the tournament's 72-hole scoring record, however, sharing it with Phil Mickelson.
- Mickelson and Calcavecchia also share the 18-hole tournament record of 60, along with Grant Waite. Mickelson has recorded that score twice.
- Gene Littler (1955, 1959, 1969), Palmer (1961-63), Calcavecchia (1989, 1992, 2001) and Mickelson (1996, 2005, 2013)are the 3-time winners of this tournament.
- The only par-4 ace in PGA Tour history happened here in 2001, made by Andrew Magee.
- "Big Break VI" contestant Jeff Mitchell won the Phoenix Open in 1980.
