The LPGA Tour Qualifying School, or Q-School, has been held annually since 1973. From 1973-82, two different tournaments were held, with two different graduating classes; three tournaments were played in 1983.

2012 LPGA Q-School Dates
• Stage 1: Sept. 4-7, at LPGA International Golf Course, Daytona Beach, Fla.
• Stage 2: Oct. 9-12, at Plantation Golf and Country Club, Venice, Fla.
• Final Stage: Nov. 28-Dec. 2, at LPGA International Golf Course, Daytona Beach, Fla.

LPGA Tour Q-School Format:

Beginning in 2011, the LPGA Q-School switched to a 3-stage qualifying schedule. The first-stage qualifier is open to any golfer who is not a member of professional tours included in the women's world rankings (LPGA, LET, KLPGA, LPGA of Japan, ALPGA, Futures Tour) and not ranked in the Top 100 of those rankings. The top one-third of the field advances to the second stage.

The second-stage qualifier includes golfers who are members of one of the world ranking tours but not already LPGA Tour members (except for one LPGA exemption category, Category 21), or players who are not members of any tour but are ranked in the Top 100.

The Top 70 plus ties in the second stage advance to the final stage. Those who fail to advance out of the second stage receive Futures Tour status. The final-stage qualifier includes LPGA members seeking to improve their exemption status; plus 15 automatic qualifiers from the Futures Tour; plus the 70+ who played their way in through the second stage.

The top finishers at the final stage receive LPGA membership, but that number is determined on a year-by-year basis. All others who make the cut get Futures Tour status.
