About the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial:

This tournament became known as the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in 2007. It has traditionally be refered to as "The Colonial" by players and fans alike, and "Colonial" - from its host course, Colonial Country Club - has always been part of its official name.

2012 Crowne Plaza Invitational
Zach Johnson won this tournament for the second time, and earned his eighth career PGA Tour victory. Johnson outplayed Jason Dufner in a head-to-head final-round battle after the two had pulled away from the field in Round 3. Johnson shot 72 in the final round compared to Dufner's 73, and finished at 268, one ahead of Dufner. Johnson also won the Colonial in 2010 when he set the tournament 72-hole scoring record.

2011 Colonial
One week after losing in a playoff at The Players Championship, David Toms won Colonial by one stroke over Charlie Wi. It was the 13th career PGA Tour win for Toms, who opened with back-to-back rounds of 62.

One guess as to where the PGA Tour Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in played. That's right, at Colonial. Fort Worth's Colonial Country Club, to be exact. Colonial was where this tournament was founded, and where it's been played every year of it existence.

PGA Tour Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial Trivia and Notes:

The Colonial has been played at Colonial Country Club since 1946. That makes it the longest-running "regular" (as opposed to the major Masters) Tour event still at its original site.
Colonial Country Club is nicknamed "Hogan's Alley" because of the success Ben Hogan had at the course.
Hogan won The Colonial the first two times it was played (1946-47), won back-to-back again in 1952-53, and won a fifth time in 1959. Hogan's five wins is still the tournament record.
No other golfer has won Colonial in back-to-back years.
Hogan's fifth win here, in 1959, was his final PGA Tour victory.

In 2003, Annika Sorenstam received a sponsor's exemption into the Colonial field, becoming the first woman since 1945 to play a PGA Tour event. She shot 71-74 and missed the cut.
Like at The Masters where the winner receives the Green Jacket, the Colonial also presents the winner with a jacket. The Colonial champion gets a tartan jacket.
