About the WGC CA Championship:
The WGC CA Championship debuted as part of the World Golf Championships series in 1999. The tournament originally rotated from course to course each year, but beginning in 2007 is permanently housed at the Doral Country Club in Doral, Fla., and has replaced that site's previous event, the Doral Open, on the PGA Tour schedule. The CA Championship is a limited-field event with entry determined mostly by money list ranking, but also by FedEx Cup points and World Ranking points.2009 Tournament
Phil Mickelson opened with a 65 and closed with a one stroke victory over Nick Watney. Mickelson, who visited a hospital between the third and final rounds due to illness, closed with a 69 to finish at 19-under. It was Mickelson's first-ever WGC victory.
2008 Tournament
Geoff Ogilvy had to finish play on Monday, but the wait was probably worth it. Ogilvy closed out a final round of 71 to earn a 1-stroke win over runners-up Jim Furyk and Retief Goosen. Tiger Woods, trying to win his sixth PGA Tour tournament in a row, finished two strokes behind.
