Phil Mickelson sports a pink ribbon on his cap during the first round of the 2010 Masters. The pink ribbon is the symbol of support for breast cancer patients and survivors, and for research into breast cancer treatments and cures. Mickelson's wife Amy as well as his mother were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, and were undergoing treatments into 2010.
That might be part of the reason that Mickelson's play prior to The Masters in 2010 was considered subpar - or at least failed to meet expectations.
But Mickelson began The Masters by shooting 67 in the first round, one stroke behind the leader.
