Michelle Wie's First Win on the LPGA Tour

It had to happen at some point, and at the 2009 Lorena Ochoa Invitational, it did happen: Michelle Wie earned her first win on the LPGA Tour.

Wie was 20 years old at the time. She first gained notice as a 12-year-old, Monday qualifying for an LPGA Tour event in 2002. At age 13, she played in the final pairing of an LPGA major. At age 14, she nearly made the cut in a PGA Tour event.

So the first victory may have taken longer to arrive than many thought it would, but arrive it did in Mexico in November 2009.
