Jeff Sluman began the final round at the 1988 PGA Championship three strokes behind Paul Azinger, in second place. He ended the final round three strokes ahead of Azinger, in first place.
Sluman did it with a closing round of 65, compared to Azinger's 71. For Sluman, it was his first career win on the PGA Tour. He didn't win again on the PGA Tour for nearly 10 years, until 1997, although he finished with six total PGA Tour victories.
