Arnold Palmer continued winning after 1964 - his final PGA Tour victory was in 1973 - and he challenged at majors again after the 1964 Masters. But this tournament mark's Palmer final win in The Masters, and his final major championship victory.
Palmer opened with three straight rounds in the 60s, building a comfortable lead, and he cruised to the win with a final-round 70. It was Palmer's seventh win in a major, and his fourth victory in The Masters.
The win made Palmer the first golfer in tournament history with four victories, breaking the previous record of three Masters championships he had shared with Jimmy Demaret and Sam Snead.
