When was the U.S. Open First Televised?

Question: When was the U.S. Open First Televised?
Answer: The first U.S. Open to be televised was the 1947 U.S. Open, in which Lew Worsham defeated Sam Snead in a playoff. The tournament was televised locally in St. Louis, Missouri, where it was played.

The U.S. Open was televised nationally, across the United States, for the first time in 1954. In 1977, all 18 holes of each of the final two rounds were broadcast live for the first time. And in 1982, all four rounds were televised for the first time.
