Top 9 Golf Instructional Videos and DVDs for the Short Game and Putting

By Brent Kelley, About.com Guide

There are plenty of good instructional video tapes and DVDs on the market that focus on the short game, or more narrowly on putting. Here are a few of the recommended titles.

2. "The Short Way to Lower Scoring"

Like his book of the same name, Paul Runyan's 2-volume set of video tapes featuring his instruction on the short game is nearly impossible to find. The book often sells for more than $100. That tells you all you need to know about the esteem in which this legendary player and instructor's short game teaching is held.

3. "Dave Stockton's Putt to Win"

This video is based on the book of the same name. Stockton is a great putter, and he's earned the reputation for being just as good as a putting instructor.

4. "Golf My Way: The Short Game"

Part of Jack Nicklaus' "Golf My Way" series of instructional videos.

5. "Short Game: Pitching and Bunker"

This is part of the "Lessons with Leadbetter" series, golf instruction from David Leadbetter. This one focuses on pitch shots and playing from bunkers.

6. "Short Game: Putting & Chipping"

In this volume of the "Lessons with Leadbetter" series, uber-instructor David Leadbetter moves a little closer to the green to go over chip shots and putting.

7. "Putt to Win"

Not to be confused with the book of the same name by Dave Stockton. This instructional video features Brad Faxon, one of the top putters in the game today, and Dr. Bob Rotella, sports psychologist to the golfing stars.

8. "Greg Norman: The Complete Golfer, Part 2 - The Short Game"

The Great White Shark made this video at the height of his fame and the height of his game, and he covers chipping, pitching and bunker play.

9. "Aim to Win: Putting & Scoring System"

Instructor Chuck Hogan's lessons in this title focus on something so simple that many golfers neglect to do it: if you want the ball to go in the hole, your aim on the green must be at the hole! Hogan details how poor setup and poor aim cost us strokes with missed putts, and offers ways to fix the problems.
