Definition: "Sundowner" is a term for any golf tournament that is played in the late afternoon, but mostly applies to 9-hole tournaments.
These tournaments are often part of a golf league's weekly schedule, and are typically 9-holes in length. Sometimes the term "sundowner" is applied to such leagues themselves, as in a "sundowner league."
Sundowner tournaments and sundowner leagues are common in summer months, when a later sunset time makes playing golf after the end of one's workday possible.
"Sundowner tournament" and "twilight tournament" are interchangeable terms.
Also Known As: Twilight tournament or twilight league
