Course Management

By , About.com Guide

Definition: "Course management" refers to the golfers' decision-making during a round of golf. What are the strategies and tactics employed by the golfer?

Good course management means the golfer is making good decisions about how to play each hole, about club selection and shot selection, about managing risk, about avoiding trouble.

Bad golf course management means the golfer is making poor decisions, taking too many chances, trying to play shots that are beyond his abilities, taking the wrong approach in his strategic and tactical decisions.
