Oitavos Dunes golf course opened in 2001, part of the Quinta da Marinha resort about 30 miles outside Lisbon, Portugal.
The European Tour's Portuguese Open has been played Oitavos Dunes, a design of the Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest & Associates architectural firm. Hills designed the course with senior design associate Drew Rogers, and the pair crafted a layout that provides golfers with ocean views from all 18 holes.
On some holes golfers find themselves amidst pine trees, while on others Oitavos' water views are framed by tall dunes. The middle portion of the course also offers views of the cliffs at Cabo da Rocha, the westernmost point in Continental Europe.
