"The eleventh hole presents subtle difficulty, as opposed to the blunt brutality of some of its predecessors. The short 379-yard par-4 can be attacked with an iron of the tee to a plateau area of fairway between bunkers and another ditch, this one crossing the fairway. A wedge from there to a green bunkered heavily at the right and the player has another chance for glory on the famous Oakmont putting surfaces, this one being of the milder variety."
