Why so expensive? First, location: Liberty National is in Jersey City, New Jersey, but is more associated with New York City because the course overlooks New York harbor, the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline.
Second, because Liberty National was built on a site that used to be a petroleum storage facility and garbage dump - land that had once been classified a toxic waste site.
Liberty National Golf Club was designed by Bob Cupp and Tom Kite. It plays to around 7,400 yards and par 71, with a USGA course rating of 77.9. In 2009, it became a host site for The Barclays PGA Tour event.
