The Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa is located in Dubai, one of the emirates of the United Arab Emirates. Unusually for golf courses that are part of world-class resorts, the course at Jebel Ali is just nine holes. Also unusually, for a 9-hole course, this one hosts an event that draws world-class golfers. The Jebel Ali Golf Resort course has been the site of the Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa Challenge Match, considered the "tee off" event of tournament week for the European Tour's Dubai Desert Classic. Golfers such as Tiger Woods and Ernie Els have competed in the 9-hole event, which uses the greensomes team format.
The par-36 course was designed by Peter Harradine and opened in 1998. Exotic trees, shrubs and desert flora decorate the course; a saltwater lake comes into play on five holes. There is also a flock of peacocks that roams the course.
