Chambers Bay opened in 2007, and almost as soon as it opened it began wracking up not just accolades - several nominations as the best new golf course in America to open in 2007 - but also major golf tournaments. Chambers Bay was awarded the 2010 U.S. Amateur Championship, and early in 2008 - just seven months after the course's official opening - Chambers Bay was named the site of the 2015 U.S. Open.
Chambers Bay is in University Place, Wash., a suburb of Tacoma on the shores of Puget Sound. Dunes and native fescue set the mood for a links course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. in the style of the coastal links of Scotland and Ireland. But the snow-capped Olympic Mountains in the background and fir trees around the perimeter don't let the golfer forget he's in Washington state.
Chambers Bay is a par-72 that tips out at 7,585 yards and plays to a 76.9 rating and 135 slope.
