SMT Golf, makers of the driver clubheads used by some of the longest drivers on the PGA Tour and the Long Drivers Association tour, is adding irons, hybrids and wedges to its lineup of components. The new clubheads will be formally introduced at the 2004 PGA Merchandise Show in late January.

The new offerings include:

303CB1 Irons
The new 303CB1 is designed for the mid to high handicap golfer who needs the extra forgiveness of a full cavity back design. Made from 303 Stainless Steel the face is CNC milled and the grooves are machined for increased performance and durability. Retail price on the 303CB1 is $25 per clubhead.

303CB2 Irons
The new 303CB2 is a half cavity back design which gives the average golfer more feel and workability than the 303CB1 irons while still offering some degree of forgiveness on mishits. Made from 303 Stainless Steel the face is CNC Milled and the grooves are machined for increased performance and durability. Retail price on the 303CB2 is $25 per clubhead.

303MB Irons
Competitive golfers will love the new 303MB Muscle-Back Irons, which offer the feel and workability needed to shape their shots and attack the pin. This no-nonsense design is sure to attract the better player who is looking for a classic blade with a stronger top line. Made from 303 Stainless Steel the face is CNC Milled and the grooves are machined for increased performance and durability. Retail price on the 303MB is $25 per clubhead.

Avocet Hybrids
SMT will also be introducing their Avocet Hybrid line which is sure to make some heads turn. The Avocet Hybrids feature a radius bottom that makes it easy to launch the ball into the air from almost any surface. Available in various lofts, the 19 degree Avocet will be your driving iron while the 23 and 26 degree hybrids can substitute for a 3 or 4 iron at varying distances. For those who have problems getting their long irons into the air, the design of the new Avocet might be the answer. The Avocet hybrids will retail for $59 and include a ferrule and head cover.

Durometer Wedges
Wedges are another addition to SMT’s line up of new products for 2005. The wedges feature a rubber Shock Absorbing Durometer in the hosel of the club. The Players Series wedge (black rubber insert) absorbs up to 14-percent of the shock and the Tour series wedge (green rubber insert) absorbs up to 4-percent of the shock normally felt when striking the ball. Like the irons, these wedges are made from 303 Stainless Steel with a CNC milled face and grooves that are machined in. There are a total of 12 wedges in the new line varying from 49 to 59 degrees and will retail for $45 per clubhead.

Mix-N-Match Sets
The greatest flexibility these new sets from SMT Golf offer is the ability to mix and match irons, wedges and hybrids to develop a customized set of golf clubs based on a players ability. Assemble the set based on the strengths and weaknesses of your game.

"I designed these three sets to look and feel similar so you could easily mix and match irons if you needed to," said Mike Tait, Owner and President of SMT Golf. "I was able to keep a very close top line so interchanging styles maintain a similar look at set up. I am very pleased with the way they turned out. Based on the design and the ability to mix and match series, we now have an iron line that is designed to fit every level of golfer out there."
