Here are our end-of-the-year selections for the best new wedges of 2005:
1. Titleist Vokey Spin Milled
The Vokey wedge franchise is as beneficial to Titleist (and golfers) as the company's Cameron putter franchise. A couple new versions were added to the Vokey Spin Milled lineup in 2005, and for lower handicappers, you can't go wrong with a Vokey wedge.2. Adams Puglielli
Two models, the Sweep and Steep, make up the Puglielli Wedge lineup from Adams, named after their designer. Max Puglielli got input from Adams' Tour staff in creating these, and anytime you can have Tom Watson offering feedback on a wedge, that's a very good thing.3. Bridgestone J33 Forged Black Satin
The J33 Forged Wedges were introduced early in the year, aimed at better players seeking more spin and greater control. The Black Satin models were added a short time later, with a finish that eliminates glare. With all the benefits of the original J33 Forged lineup, the Black Satin models just look cool. More info4. Cleveland CG11
Cleveland offers a versatile lineup of CG11 wedges, with golfers of all playing abilities able to find something on offer. CG11 wedges have similar spin and ball flight characteristics to Cleveland's popular CG10 wedges, but with a little more stability and forgiveness.5. MacGregor V-Foil EZ Out
The EZ Out wedges are more forgiving than the other wedges in the MacGregor arsenal (V-Foil Tour), featuring an oversized back that helps get the trailing edge to make first contact. A good choice among those listed here for mid- and higher handicappers.Name Your Own Favorites
