Top 3 New Training Aids of 2004

By Brent Kelley, About.com

As part of the About.com Golf "Best of 2004" equipment ratings, here are our selections for the best new training aids of 2004 (more selections on the Best of 2004 homepage; see also last year's picks in the 2003 rankings).

1. Inside Approach

The Inside Approach offers everything you want from a training aid: it's easy to set up, it's easy to use, and most importantly, it's effective.

2. Smart Swing

The Smart Swing is a self-correcting golf club. Or, in the words of the company, an "intelligent golf club." It comes with computer analysis programs built right into the club. It offers immediately audio feedback, and also downloads data into your PC for in-depth swing tracking and analysis. More info

3. 8Board

The 8board is a training aid that teaches balance. It uses two rotating pads on which you stand and swing. If you manage to keep your swing balanced on the 8board, your regular swing should show marked improvement.
