The original Nike Blue Chip Oz putter was a winner. The Blue Chip Oz T100 is a knockout. Its "Blue Chip" aluminum insert and its steel ring that moves two-thirds of the weight rearward produce both terrific feel and great distance control. Plus, it's nice to look at and priced below a few of its top big-name competitors. Penneagle Golf is a still-young company whose putters are gaining notice from many more places than just About.com. The Palisade is a mallet whose "Oppositional Weighting System" and "V-site" and "Iball" alignment aids helped make it one of our favorites of 2004. Everything about this putter makes it easier to make a good stroke. The classic mallet as done by Scotty Cameron. The primary performance feature is a soft face insert made of precision milled German Stainless Steel surrounded by vibration absorbing elastomer material, and supported by a cushioned pad. Also comes in the Red X2, a center-shafted model. More infoCan you say "behemoth?" When Doc17 prototypes started showing up on the pro tours in 2004, they were certainly the largest putters seen since the advent of size controls. The clubface of the Doc17 is 6.5 inches from heel to toe. What do you get for that whopping putter head? Extreme perimeter weighting and the highest MOI of any putter Ping has ever made. The Voodoo Daddy does it with an oversized mallet design. The Voodoo Daddy utilizes the same weight properties as the original Voodoo, but Never Compromise has added "stabilizer bars" to the toe and heel, and also increased the distance from the face to the rear of the putter. More infoThe White Steel is a new twist on Odyssey's White Hot face insert technology. Now, you can own a putter with an insert in its insert: a stainless steel insert floats in the middle of the familiar White Hot insert. Odyssey calls it "steel meets feel." More info
Before Ping got crazy with the Doc17, they got Craz-E. The Craz-E was itself a departure for Ping, a large, odd-shaped mallet that mixes metallic silver with bright blue. With extreme perimeter weighting and high MOI, the Craz-E provides great feel. More infoVisit the About.com Golf Forums to make your own selections for the best new putters of 2004.
