Aug. 27, 2008 - The evolution of the Burner driver continues at TaylorMade with the next generation of the Burner, plus the Burner TP driver. How many Burner drivers have their been? TaylorMade counts 'em down:
1983 - Original Burner driver introduced 1986 - Burner Plus driver 1995 - Burner Bubble driver 2007 - New Burner driver, which was the best-selling driver of 2007 according to Golf Datatech 2008 - Tour Burner, introduced early in the year And now, arriving in late 2008, the next-generation TaylorMade Burner driver; and in early 2009, the Burner TP driver will follow. And as with all clubs in the Burner series, these models are designed for the big bombers, the golfers who grip it and rip it in a quest for maxed out distance. The 2007 Burner was TaylorMade's introduction of SuperFast, with lighter grips and shafts. The 2008 Burner continues with SuperFast, and also includes the Dual Crown Technology from the Tour Burner. The new Burner weighs less than 300 grams, and is geared to promote faster swing speeds, higher launch and less spin.
The new TaylorMade Burner driver will be available at retail beginning Oct. 1, 2008, with an MSRP of $400. It will be available in lofts of 9.5, 10.5 and HT (high trajectory).
The TaylorMade Burner TP driver, geared for lower handicappers, will have a slightly open clubface, and a choice of 55- or 65-gram shafts. Lofts will include 8.5, 9.5 and 10.5 degrees. The MSRP will be $500, and the driver will be available at retail beginning March 30, 2009. (next page)
