Using Adams' Boxer shaping, the "hFW" sports internal heel-toe weighting. Adams claims its MOI is 20-percent greater than that of conventional fairway woods.
The face has the length of a hybrid, and the face area is one-third larger than that of most conventional fairway woods, according to the company. The sole camber is more similar to fairway woods, however, to help reduce turf drag. And the maraging steel face is thinner than the stainless steel more typically used in fairways and hybrids.
The offset version is named the Insight Tech a4OS Hybrid-Fairway Wood. It has a magnesium crown in place of titanium, with the weight saved redistributed to the rear. The a4OS is slightly offset and has a draw bias.
The Adams Insight Tech a4 Hybrid-Fairway Wood (the non-offset model) has the premium Matrix Ozik shaft as the stock shaft. The a4OS Hybrid-Fairway Wood stock shaft is the Graphite Design Tour AD YSQ-HL graphite shaft. Both models have an MSRP of $369.99.
The a4 model begins shipping on Oct. 1, 2008; the a4OS model on Nov. 1, 2008. Visit www.adamsgolf.com for more info. (next page)
