Among the driver's tech specs is a 15-gram external weight positioned on the rear sole. This helps lower the center of gravity and move more weight back and low for good MOI.
Adams describes the clubhead's shape as a "classic, pear-shape design."
While better golfers might prefer the Insight Tech a4, golfers needing more forgiveness and who battle a slice or unwanted fade might prefer the offset version, the Insight Tech a4OS driver.
In addition to slight offset, the Insight Tech a4OS has a slightly closed face. Designed with the company's Boxer shaping, the offset model also substitutes lighter magnesium for titanium in the crown, and redistributes weight to the rear and perimeter.
For the offset driver, the stock shaft is the Graphite Design Tour AD YSQ-HL graphite shaft and the MSRP is $499.99. For the Insight Tech a4 driver, the stock shaft is the Matrix Ozik and the MSRP $499.99.
The a4 model begins shipping on Oct. 1, 2008; the a4OS model on Nov. 1, 2008. See www.adamsgolf.com for more info. (next page)
