The new King Cobra Transition-S sets are shipping to retailers now and have an MSRP of $840. They are available in men's (3-PW), seniors (4-SW) and women's (4-SW) configurations.
All three sets combine utility metals, hybrid irons and wide-sole irons with consistent distance gaps, and are geared for moderate-speed swingers. The sets shape up thusly:
- 3, 4 and 5 utility metals: With wide soles and low crowns, the utility metals lower and deepen the center of gravity and boost MOI. There is also an offset hosel to help promote a draw bias.
- 6 and 7 hybrid irons: A hollow-body construction boosts MOI and forgiveness; back-weighting helps promote a higher launch. The center of gravity is moved closer to the heel, promoting a draw bias.
- 8, 9, PW and SW irons: The cavity back short irons have a urethane insert in the cavity, which Cobra says offers a softer feel at impact. The wide soles help with turf interaction as well as optimizing the center of gravity location for higher launch.
The new King Cobra Transition-S sets come stock with Cobra/Aldila VS Proto HL shafts and Cobra/Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips. See www.cobragolf.com for more info. (next page)
