The R9 and R9 TP drivers came on the market priced at $500 and $600, respectively.
Now, TaylorMade is ready with the R9 460 driver, priced lower and geared for a wider variety of golfers. The R9 460 has a 460cc clubhead, more forgiveness, and a longer and lighter shaft to help golfers increase swing speed.
The FCT is still there, and can promote a side-to-side trajectory change of up to 40 yards (compared to 75 in the initial - and more expensive - R9 offerings).
Speaking of price, the R9 460 has a street price of $299 and becomes available at retail outlets on May 16, 2009. It is available in lofts of 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 11.5 for right-handers and 9.5 and 10.5 for lefties.
The stock shaft is a 45.75-inch Aldila RE*AX 60-gram tip-soft shaft, available in L, M, R, S and X flexes. An R9 460 TP version is also available, the difference being the stock shaft is a a Fujikura Motore F1 65 graphite shaft with a .335 tip. Visit www.taylormadegolf.com for more info.
