Cleveland CG Black Driver
Cleveland Golf calls the CG Black Driver the lightest driver on the market. How light? It weighs in at only 265 grams total. For comparison's sake, the drivers in Cleveland's Ultralite series range from 270 grams to 310 grams.
That light weight is achieved in part through the stock shaft, the Miyazaki C. Kua 39 Limited Edition graphite shaft; plus the lightweight Golf Pride Tour 25 grip. A lighter overall club weight means the same golfer can generate more clubhead speed compared to a heavier club. And more clubhead speed can result in more distance.
The driver also has Cleveland's "Speed Crown Design," a teardrop-inspired shape that attacks swing speed from the aerodynamic angle. The CG Black driver also incorporates variable face thickness (a "hotter" face on off-center strikes) and uses a weight screw in the rear of the sole that moves the center of gravity such that Cleveland says a high, draw-biased trajectory results.
The available lofts are 9, 10.5 and 12 degrees (the 12-degree model is available in right-handed only; the 9 and 10.5 come in both RH and LH). The MAP on the Cleveland CG Black driver is $399.99.
