Feb. 13, 2012 - Cleveland Golf is adding to its 2012 product line with the Cleveland Classic drivers, plus the Mashie line of hybrids, fairway woods and irons. The new additions join the CG Black series and 588 Forged wedges announced late in 2011. Below and on the following pages are brief looks at each of the newly announced clubs. You can find more info about each on clevelandgolf.com.

Cleveland Classic Driver
There are three drivers in the Cleveland Classic line, the Classic 270, Classic 290 and Classic Tour. The first thing you'll notice is the look. These drivers have the appearance of an old persimmon wood. But don't worry, they aren't persimmon; these drivers are titanium painted to resemble persimmon. Retro. Or "classic," in other words.

  • Classic 270: Has an overall weight of 270 grams with a Miyazaki C. Kua 39 graphite shaft. Comes in lofts of 9, 10.5 and 12 degrees, all with square face angles. MAP $299.99.

  • Classic 290: Has an overall weight of 290 grams with a Miyazaki C. Kua 43 graphite shaft. Comes in lofts of 7.5, 9, 10.5 and 12 degrees, all with square face angles. MAP $299.99.

  • Classic Tour: Has an overall weight of 310 grams with a Miyazaki Kusala Black 61 graphite shaft. Comes in lofts of 8.5, 9.5 and 10.5. degrees, all with face angles 1-degree open. MAP $379.99.

All three Cleveland Classic drivers (read review) have traditional pear-shaped clubheads with the largest, deepest clubfaces yet made by the company, Cleveland says.

The Tour model is engineered (including the stock shaft) for strong golfers who generate high-spin and like to work the ball.
