Guide Review - "Dr. Divot's Guide to Golf Injuries"
Some of them surely are. But Dr. Larry Foster, a k a Dr. Divot, keeps his book from being in that category with frequent doses of self-depreciating humor. Foster is writing for recreational golfers, not medical school students, and that is reflected in his flowing, easy-to-read writing style.
That makes absorbing the information much easier - and it's great information. Foster explains to us how the golf swing affects our joints and muscles, and which joints and muscles are most susceptible to injury. Then he gives us tips for preventing those injuries, and explains what treatment options are available if they do occur.
Most golfers will suffer an injury - 60-percent of us a major injury - related to golf at some point in our lives. Foster also shows how a poor golf swing makes those injuries more likely.
After going through the most common golf injuries, their causes and treatment, Foster offers warmup routines and conditioning exercises that can help us avoid trouble.
All golfers would do well to learn the information included in this book. It's the best and easiest-to-read book that we've seen that focuses on golf-related injury prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
