"Telescoping" Travel Bag Protects Clubs, Collapses for Easy Storage

Golf Telebag

The Golf Telebag collapses to one-third its full size for easy storage.

Golf Telebag
The Golf Telebag is hard-case travel bag that fits over your existing golf bag. The Telebag protects your clubs during transit, but doesn't get in your way before or after. That's becase the Golf Telebag is "telescoping." The segments of its hard case fit one within the other, allowing the case to collapse to less than half its original height. Which makes storage - whether in the trunk of a rental car a closet in your home - much easier.
"The Golf Telebag has been a personal labor of love for me," said Greg Dietrich, president and CEO of Telebag, LLC. "As an active traveling golfer, I searched for a travel golf bag that could protect my clubs, yet easily fit into a rental car."

But Dietrich had trouble finding such a travel bag. So he built his own.

"Through much research and development, I landed on a concept that appeared simple, yet profound," Dietrich said. "A hard case golf bag that worked like a telescope, so that upon arrival to a rental car, a golfer could remove their clubs and 'telescope' the bag to almost a third of its original size for an easy fit in most an rental car."

Golf Telebag's lightweight but high density Polyethylene hard case is made of three connected modules, each slightly larger than the next. When the bag is not in use, the modules fit within each other - the "telescoping" effect - to significantly reduce its size.

The Details

Golf Telebag
At its full size, the Golf Telebag can easily protect most golf bags.
Golf Telebag
The Golf Telebag comes in both Deluxe and Standard versions, sized to fit most of today's golf bags. The Deluxe Golf Telebag retails for $139.95, plus shipping. The Telebag itself weighs 12 pounds. At its full height, it is 52 inches; collapsed, it is 24 inches tall.

Three straps with easy-release clips hold the wheeled base together with the telescoping part of the Telebag. To use the Telebag, the golfer disconnects the top section from the base, then lifts the still-compressed top section over his golf clubs.

One easy-release clip near the top of the Telebag is unsnapped, and the Telebag is pulled down over the golf bag. The Telebag, with clubs inside, is laid horizontally and the wheeled base reattached by snapping the three clips back into place. Adjust the straps on those three buckles, and you're ready to go.

When ready to place your clubs in a car, or store the Telebag at home, simply remove the clubs and "telescope" the case down to its compact storage height.

The Verdict

The Golf Telebag fits right over most existing golf bags, protecting your clubs. The two roller-blade wheels on the bottom of its base, and two handles - one at the top and one on the side - make transport a breeze.

The straps and snaps that secure the Telebag over your clubs are very easy to operate and adjust.

The company says the Deluxe model will fit over 95 percent of carry and cart bags. It will not fit, the company says, large professional staff bags. We tried ours first on the largest bag we own, an Ogio RAIL, and the bag would not fit inside the Telebag. That's an extreme example, however, because of the RAIL's extendable arm.

Slightly smaller - but still robust - cart bags we tried worked well, and more modest cart bags and all carry bags fit easily and securely into the Telebag.

The Golf Telebag is a great idea for a travel case.
