Oct. 3, 2005 - Tour Edge is getting exotic again, this time with the Exotics Driver. And the company also has two new sets on offer, the Bazooka JMAX QL Irons and the Bazooka JMAX Tour Iron-Woods.

We'll share some information on each on the following pages, but first up ...

Tour Edge Exotics Driver

"Exotics" is the brand that Tour Edge uses on a lineup of premium clubs that employ what the company calls "combo-brazing technology." We've written previously about the Exotics C.B Fairway Woods and the Exotics EX-1 Hybrid Irons.

Combo-brazing is a no-weld, chemical method of bonding the crown and face of the clubhead. The lack of welding saves precious grams of weight, which are then repositioned to other parts of the clubhead to help create a deeper, lower center of gravity.

The crown of the Exotics Driver itself weights only 15 grams and checks in at just 0.4 millimeters thick. The quest in the industry for methods of weight-saving goes back to the center of gravity, which by being positioned deeper and lower in the clubhead can help launch the ball at a high angle and add more forgiveness.

The Exotics Driver features an SP700 Beta Titanium face, and two fixed screws in the rear, bottom of the clubhead to strategically position more weight.

Shaft options for the Exotics Driver include the Graphite Design YS, Aldila NV and Fujikura High Launch 55. The estimated retail price is $399.99.
