TaylorMade Adds to Rossa Lineup of Putters

Four New CGB Putters Join with New Monza Corza

The Monza Corza is the newest entry into TaylorMade's lineup of Rossa Monza putters, while the company also is adding four new models to its Rossa CGB series of putters.

The Rossa Monza Corza is a large, mallet-style putter. TaylorMade identifies four key technological components of the Corza:

• Rossa Anti-skid Groove System Insert (AGSI): A large Tallium (7-metal alloy) insert is scored with 12 CNC-milled grooves. (The Rossa Tallium inserts are in the distinctive cherry red color; if you've tour golfers using a putter with a face insert of that color, chances are it's a TaylorMade Rossa putter.) The insert is designed to impart forwardspin, rather than backspin, on putted balls, helping cut down on skidding that can veer a putt offline.

• Movable Weights: The same technology that goes into TaylorMade's r7 Quad driver is available in the Corza. The Rossa Monza Corza features two movable weights that allow the golfer to set the weighting to his or her liking.

• Wire-Framed Putterhead and Semi-Floating Putterface: We'll forego the technical explanation of these terms and let it suffice to say that these qualities of the Rossa Monza Corza repositions weight around the putter head in order to achieve greater forgiveness.

• Linear Alignment System: The Corza features the usual Monza alignment aids - a bar that connects the front of the putter with the back; bisecting that bar is a vivid line perpendicular to the center of the putterface.

Three models of the Corza - a heel-shafted, double-bend shafted model; a heel-shafted, L-necked model; and a center-shafted model - will be available at retail beginning in June (two of the models won't be available until September). They will be introduced with an MSRP of $208 each.

Also coming from TaylorMade are four new models of the Rossa CGB: the Daytona 1, an L-neck blade; the Lambeau 7, a center-shafted blade; the Sebring 3, a short, slant-neck blade; and the Suzuka, a half-mallet with a double-bend shaft.

All feature the Anti-skid Groove System Insert (AGSI) described above, and all get their names from the feature that TaylorMade calls Center-of-Gravity-Back (CGB) technology.

The CGB technology employs tungsten rods inserted into the rear of the putter head, or tungsten plugs inserted into the sole of the putter head, depending on the model. This concentrates weight in the heel and toe of the putters, helping move the center of gravity deeper and rearward and increasing the MOI (resistance to twisting).

The new Rossa CGB models will debut at retail in mid-June and will carry and MSRP at debut of $158 per putter.
